Split is an iOS & Android app that makes it easy for groups of people to pay for items now, then split the bill between everyone later. Whether you're out for dinner with friends, planning a group vacation, or splitting the cost of a gift, Split makes it simple and hassle-free to manage the payment process.
When Jay and Jorge came to us with their idea for Split, they had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve, but needed help bringing it to life. Their goal was to create an app that would simplify the process of splitting bills and expenses among friends, without requiring a lot of manual effort or coordination.
The Challenge
One of the biggest challenges we faced during the development of Split was how to make the payment process as simple and streamlined as possible. We wanted to create an app that would be easy to use for groups of all sizes, and that would make splitting expenses a breeze.
Goal
To create an app that would simplify the process of splitting bills and expenses among friends, without requiring a lot of manual effort or coordination.
The Process
We focused on creating a simple, user-friendly interface that would guide users through the payment process step-by-step. We also integrated Stripe for payment processing and card issuing, which allowed us to provide a secure, reliable payment system that users could trust.
In addition to the payment features, Split also includes a number of other useful tools and features, such as the ability to invite friends to a split session, import contacts, and get notified when a split is due. We also used Firebase for the back-end and implemented push notifications and deep linking to ensure a seamless user experience.
Throughout the development process, we worked closely with Jay and Jorge to ensure that the final product met their expectations and delivered on their vision. The end result is an app that is easy to use, efficient, and effective, and that has received positive feedback from users around the world.

Jay and Jorge were freshmen in college when they decided they wanted to build the app “Split” to solve a problem they experienced with their friends. Even though platforms like Venmo exist, it can still be a lot of work to split the dinner tab between you and your friends on a night out. Split solves this problem by giving users a card with a balance on it for the cost of the meal, then splits the bill evenly with friends after, making it so you don’t have to sort everything out at the restaurant. They’ve since launched, and have seen success with people using it for everything from large nights out with friends to shopping at Best Buy.
